ELECTION ADMINISTRATION

Election administration involves the bodies tasked with conducting the electoral process. Proper election administration should ensure that the electoral process is conducted freely, fairly, and in accordance with national laws and international standards.

1. Election commission

The election commission should administer the electoral process in an independent, impartial, and transparent manner.

2. Voter registration

The registration of voters should enable all eligible citizens to exercise their right to vote on Election Day. Voter registration should provide the right to vote without discrimination and unreasonable exclusions, restrictions, or qualifications.

3. Voter education

Voter education activities should ensure that all eligible citizens are aware of their political rights, including their right to be registered and vote.

4. Political parties/candidates

All individuals and political parties who wish to stand for election should be free to do so without discrimination. Restrictions on the right to form or join a political party should be reasonable and not discriminatory.
