“Burma- Women’s Voices Together”
is a compilation of articles from the first 3 editions of the Women’s
Voices series. The theme of the book, national reconciliation and
unity, is reflected in the diverse ethnic backgrounds, experiences
and perspectives of the women of Burma who contributed to this book.
The compelling voices of women, political prisoners, refugees,
migrant workers, activists, leaders and “ordinary women”
of different ethnic nationalities are expressed in this book.
The women, some of whom are first-time writers, have courageously
shared their experiences and thoughts with grace, strength and
a sense of humour.
“I hope this book will help build greater
understanding of the ideas, dreams and experiences of many different
types of women from Burma. These women are not speaking merely
for themselves; they are also voicing our cares and aspirations.
They are teaching us that while our differences define us, it
is ultimately our similarities that form a foundation of enduring
strength.” - Excerpt from Foreword by Daw Aung San
Suu Kyi
